Special Program Center Guidelines

for Disciplinary Alternative Educational Program placements

1.        Students are expected to successfully complete the Disciplinary Alternative Educational Program (DAEP) Level System, earn the required points, and to produce passing work while attending the Special Programs Center (SPC).

2.       In keeping with the public school attendance laws in the State of Texas, attendance requirements will be adhered to. According to state law, students may be denied course credit due to excessive absences. The SPC will follow the district Student Handbook and Code of Conduct guidelines. Parents should notify the SPC front office staff when a student is going to be absent and provide appropriate documentation upon the student’s return to campus. This information and any documentation will be forwarded to the home campus.

3.       Students are responsible for their textbooks and district issued electronic devices. Students will be held to all home campus and district policies governing textbook/electronic device damage, loss and return.

  1. The SPC adheres to all district policies in the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. In addition, the following restrictions apply to SPC students:

    • The SPC dress code must be followed.

    • Students assigned to the SPC are not permitted to have cell phones, ipods, or other electronic devices (other than those designated as appropriate for educational purposes). Students are required to turn non-educational electronic devices in at the front desk upon arrival and will receive them upon release for the day.

    • Drinks brought in to the SPC must be sealed in the original container. No glass bottles allowed.

      5.       Students are not allowed on any other Northwest ISD campus during their DAEP placement unless they meet the requirements outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. Students on any campus other than the SPC will be subject to trespassing laws. Students must remain in the designated area of the SPC, or they will be subject to trespassing laws.

      6.       Students who drive a vehicle must park in their assigned SPC campus parking area and abide by all parking rules. Vehicles are subject to being searched.

      7.       Students are not allowed to leave the campus at any time during the school day. Leaving the campus during the school day is grounds for further disciplinary action.

      8.       Students are not allowed to loiter or wait outside the building before or after school. The entry way directly in front of the school building is the only outside approved area where a student may wait for his/her ride after school. In addition, students are expected to begin working when they arrive to class.
